Hospital Prices by City
Browse published hospital pricing data across US cities. All prices are sourced from CMS-mandated transparency files that every hospital is required by federal law to publish.
About Hospital Pricing Data
The CMS Price Transparency Rule requires every hospital operating in the United States to publish a machine-readable file containing their standard charges. These files include gross charges (list prices), cash/self-pay discounts, and negotiated rates with specific insurance plans.
Hospital pricing files are typically large (often tens or hundreds of megabytes) and formatted for machine processing, not human reading. We download these files, extract pricing for common procedures, and present the data in a format you can use to compare costs across hospitals and insurance plans within a city.
Each hospital page shows the source file URL so you can access the original data. We are not affiliated with any hospital or healthcare provider, and we display pricing data as published without editorial modification.
By comparing prices across hospitals in the same city, patients can see the range of costs for common procedures. Cash prices, insurance negotiated rates, and gross charges can all differ significantly between hospitals just miles apart. Understanding these differences can help you ask better questions when discussing costs with your provider or insurer.

How We Keep Data Current
We check hospital pricing files for changes every week using lightweight HTTP requests that detect whether a file has been modified without downloading the full file. When a hospital updates their file, we re-download and re-extract the data, typically within 7 days.
Every hospital page and pricing page shows two dates: when the hospital last updated their file, and when we last accessed it. If a hospital's data has not been updated for more than 90 days, we display a prominent warning on affected pages. We link directly to each hospital's source file so you can verify the data yourself.
Coverage is expanding. We are adding new cities and hospitals on a regular basis. Each new metro area includes all major hospitals with their published pricing data for common procedures.
